25/03/2024 – 3rd and last time for this trip.

Most likely not returning anytime soon as P&O seem to have dropped this port, at least on the Britannia. So sad, no more Champions Bar. 😥 An amazing bar playing lots of local songs such as, Delilah, Living Next Door to Alice (rude version) and the yogi bear song (very rude). Just loved watching the parents faces 🤣

And, we met one of Tubbs’s new boyfriends.

Having spent the night struggling with his breathing, Poor Podge finally decided to resort to steroids (these did in fact make a big, big difference): Why take steroids? Because Podge so desperately wanted to go ashore to visit the Champions Bar in St Kitts as it was highly likely that this would be the final visit for quite some time as the P&O seems to have dropped it from future itineraries on the Britannia for all but Transatlantic cruises and, for some reason, one cruise in November 2025! 😭

Having enjoyed a typical Epicurean Breakfast, a major perk of having a suite on a P&O Ship, and satisfied that the steroids had ‘kicked in and doing their job’, we felt ready to venture ashore for what would be our list visit (for a while) to St Kitts. One thing that his us both was just how hot it was where we were parked but we persevered and struggled on as Podge needed to be sure to get a [large] St Kitts Coffee Mug 😋. Luckily, he found one that fitted the bill perfectly. Much better than those girlie cups you get the Epicurean at breakfast time.

Mug sourced. Podge then decided he wanted to buy some Brut: Don’t ask, he just wanted some. After that, it was off to Champions for lots of loud music and lots of beers. Just as we were about to set off, we could hear the sound of rhythmic drumming and noticed people all looking in the same direction. It was a local dance group coming round to entertain all thos that wanted to be entertained and, alll those that didn’t want to be entertained 😋; fortunately, we did want to be entertained and so stayed for some more beers and enjoyed the local sideshow.

Eventually, it was time to go home, home being the Britannia of course, rest our weary limbs before our evening of sampling Glass House offerings and of course their rather nice bottle of Bacchus wine (a very acceptable, if not preferable, alternative to Sauvignon Blanc) before our nightly cocktails in the Crows Nest.

Naturally, bedtime was on a different day to the day we got up. How much longer can this last! Still, just two more ports of call then we’ll be back in Southampton and normality. Until then however, another glass of Laphroaig beckons 😋

Endnote:
So many people on board, for this cruise, and the previous, had been taken ill by a mysterious sneezing/coughing ‘bug’ and so was not restricted to Poor Podge. Unfortunately, because he has a respiratory issue anyway, such a bug was always going to affect him more. For this reason, Poor Podge always takes a course of Steroids and AntiBiotics with him and, on this occasion they proved invaluable and enabled Poor Podge to recover and continue to enjoy the three back-to-back cruises.

Although Poor Podge claimed they both ‘struggled on’ with the heat, both Podge and Tubbs actually lapped it all up bathing in Caribbean Sunshine: Hmmm, 🤔, maybe both Podge and Tubbs are lizards and not just Tubbs: See <Help, I’m Marrying a Lizard>.

Step Count: – 8336 🥴
