Today, we’re back to Curacao for the 2nd time this cruise so we chose not to take an excursion. Mrs Me therefore decreed that we should walk into town to see the swing bridge that everybody kept going on about(!) and of course, look at some shops. Bought some heirlooms (otherwise known as tat by the children) and Debbie bought the first ever pink girlie article (clothing) for our new granddaughter. It turned out that the clothing was actually too small as our new granddaughter had grown quicker than we had realised, mind you. she was only born 3-weeks before we left and we were away for 6-weeks so we weren’t really that surprised.

By the time we finished shopping Podge needed a rest and a drink so we stopped for beer at Ocean House 19 right by the waters edge but ended up with cocktails 🍹 and lunch. The ice cube in my Godfather Cocktail [Rye whiskey & Disarono] is shaped like a skull. Debbie’s cocktail is a Sky Water [Gin, mint, Lemon Juice, St. Germain, & watermelon Juice] with Fruit Salad (twice each). And very yummy they were. Given that we were drinking we felt that some food was appropriate so we asked the very nice waitress if she could give us a plate of mixups. And yes, they were absolutely scrumptious even though the look on Debbie’s face may suggest otherwise: We finished the lot.

After our bijou lunch break we started to make our way back to the ship. As we wondered through the shopping area we say a familiar figure: It was The Ninja (our housekeeper) who was apparently out to but himself a new suitcase for his return trip home. Apparently the other one had been broken in transit and Curacao was a good place to but such items.

On our return, we retired to our cabin at which point the effects of lunch and cocktails took its toll and we both crashed out on the ned and fell asleep. As luck would have it however, we woke just in time to greet Asmita, our Butler, who liked to keep a daily check on us and have a chat about our days. Post chat, we sat out on the balcony and watched as the Britannia cast off its strings, pulled away from her parking lot and set sail for Bonaire.

Once we were sure the Captain had full control of the ship and knew where he was going we rallied enough to go down to the glasshouse for a glass or two of Bacchus before retiring on the, wait for it, same day we got up.
