Today was to be the day we were to be made to feel very special as we were invited to meet the Captain for a private tour of the bridge. With no word of a lie, it was like star ship enterprise complete with a secure command and control centre. Her Tubbsness took the opportunity to reflect her disappointment in the state of the Red Ensign (she can be very bossy, first lifeboat hatches and now flags). The officer did however actually agree with her, and it was changed without delay (I think it had been changed already but Her Tubbsness hadn’t seen it). 😋

Now, for us, today was a great day because it was packing day for most (the cruise ends tomorrow) but not for us 😋 – We’ll be sitting in the Sunset Bar relaxing with a cocktail or two: It was here that we heard the Captain giving a nice update over the Tannoy and mentioned that a small handful of the guests were staying onboard all the way to Southampton to which Her Tubbsness whooped with joy. One couple commented on how boring it must be spending so many days at sea. Lady Hyacinth, I mean Mrs Me (yes, Lady Hyacinth is another alias for you know who) couldn’t resist it and said, quite loudly, “not in a suite it’s not” and ordered another cocktail, as did I of course: the couple left. Lady Hyacinth can be a [very] naughty girl. 😈

Post Sunset Bar drinks, we retired back to our suite for a rest and look out from our balcony and See the Sea. I think it’s fair to say that the afternoon cocktails had taken their toll and we both drifted into a gentle snooze to the gentle sound of the Britannia gliding through the warm sunlit Caribbean Sea heading back to Barbados.

Eventually, we did stir from our slumbers and readied ourselves for our evening meal in The Glass House for lots of yummy food washed down by a nice refreshing glass of Bacchus. Just as a treat, we had starters (mix of three from the menu), a main meal followed by a scrummy desert consisting of:

  • Chocolate Candied Walnut Whip
  • Strawberry and Elderflower Chocolate Wagon Wheel
  • Chocolate Sponge and Cherry Ice Cream Arctic Roll

Naturally, we found it quite a struggle to move after such a feast so we just settled into a couple of nice armchairs looking down over the Britannia’s most fabulous Atrium with a stunning starburst chandelier, for a nice relaxing bedtime before retiring.

Again, we failed to go to bed the same day we got up.

Step count – 3391 🥴
